Day 2 Quebec

Up and at `em early this morning. From the start our only goal for the day, other than to arrive safely on the far side of Quebec, was to figure out the route around Montreal! We have made countless successful trips through Montreal from the days in our car, with a tent strapped on the roof, to recent years manoeuvering our 55 feet in and out through traffic and construction. Years ago someone told us about a road being built south of the city and we gave that a try, but it turned out to be a milk run that was more trouble than it was worth! Today we travelled on Hwy 30 to the TCH and it was amazing! 100 km the whole way and so little traffic that David begged me not to blog about it so that no one would learn of its existence and clog the roads!

After a few stops, for Miss ADHD, at the great road stops in PQ, we arrived in Riviere-du-Loup to prolonged rain and 15 degrees. We awoke this morning to 29 degrees so this is a bit of a system shock! The only real problem is that we can`t go for a good, long walk the way we would like to after a day confined to the truck!

The park here is lovely, or would be if it weren’t cold and raining! Camping Municipal de la Pointe is easy to get to from the highway, perched on a cliff overlooking the St. Lawrence and is heavily wooded. For the faint-of-heart campers, manoeuvering 55 feet to nestle in the trees may be daunting. Watching David do this is like watching magic. We are tucked away with mere inches of clearance! Hope you can see what I mean from the pictures!

Today was David’s birthday so we opened a nice bottle of wine, cooked our favourite pasta, and had a great evening, tucked away in our trailer in the woods, listening to the rain! Oh, and all the birthday calls! We may have to occasionally fight being slaves to technology but it’s pretty awesome when we can get calls here in the woods from all the kids, including the one that’s floating in the Caribbean Sea!!!
